【摘要】:Manyphysicalandmechanicalpropertiesofwoodandwood-basedmaterialschangeinresponsetotheenvironmentalequilibriummoisturecontent,andanycomparisonofthesepropertiesmusttakemoisturecontentintoaccount.Aconsistentbaseforcomparisonamongdifferenttestsamplesanddifferentlaboratoriesisnecessary.Shrinkageanddimensionalchangeinparticulararedependentonmoisturecontent,andtestsinvolvingtheirmeasurementmustbeconductedwithgoodequilibriummoisturecontentcontrol.Conditioningcanalsobeimportantinindustrialsettingswherethereareoptimummoisturecontentlevelsformanyproductsandprocesses,andconformancetotheselevelscanreducelossesinqualityandyield.1.1Thisguidecoversstandardproceduresforconditioningandequilibratingwoodandwood-basematerialstoconstantmoisturecontent.Theproceduresapplytosolidwood,wood-basefiberandparticulatematerialsandpanels,andwoodproductscontainingadhesives.Theyareintendedforuseinresearchanddevelopmentactivities,testinglaboratories,qualitycontrol,andforallotherclassesofproducersandusers.Thisguideincludesbackgroundmaterialontheimportanceofmoisturecontentcontrol,importantdefinitionsandtechnicaldata,possibletypesofapparatus,procedures,andtheimportanceofconditioningtime.Usersshouldrecognizethatthenecessarydegreeofprecisionandbiasvarieswiththeintentionsoftheusers.Someresearchandtesting,forexample,mightrequireveryclosecontrolofmoisturecontent,whereascontrolinanindustrialstoragefacilitymightnotrequiresuchclosecontrol.Thisguideoffersproceduresthatincludethesedifferentrequirements.1.2Thefollowingsafetyhazardscaveatpertainsonlytotheproceduresection,Section6,ofthisguide.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
